Frequently
Asked Questions
Benefits,
and why has the manufacturer not done this already?
The reasons for this are:
-
differences in the fuel quality in different countries
-
exhaust emission
caused by using inferior or bad fuel
-
exceeding service-intervals
-
different driver
profiles
-
weather factors (extremes
of heat and cold)
-
country-specific exhaust values
-
financial reasons like
insurance ratings
Therefore the manufacturer needs to be content with a
compromise solution to account for all these facts. The result is a
very weak and conservative software set-up for your car's ECU.
Our task is to eliminate these compromises. We optimise and
individualise the software of your car in a way which allows for
maximum performance and economy without any compromise to
manufacturer tolerances or reliability.
Will the lifetime of my engine will be affected in a bad way after the
optimisation?
The simple answer is: No!
The power reserves of
an engine are so large that you don't have to expect more engine wear. We
optimise the settings of the engine without exceeding the limits of the reliability. If the car is driven normally there
is no decrease of the expected lifetime! However, if the car is continuously
driven very hard you can expect a 3% to 5% decrease in engine life
What about fuel consumption?
Depends on the driving style. However, due to the optimised power values you
can expect a decrease in consumption by 5 to 10%! This is possible
because you will be using a smaller amount of throttle to get the
same amount of power as in the standard version of the car.
Do I need
stronger suspension, brakes or any other mechanical items?
No, this is not necessary. However, we do recommend that you fit a free flow
air filter such as is available from K & N to gain even more
power.
Is the tuning detectable
if the car is returned to an authorised dealer?
No. Your car dealer cannot determine a software modification with his equipment
since the original software program is used to develop the upgrade
and therefore all engine characteristics are normal.
Will the engine operate at higher temperatures after the
optimisation?
The temperature can rise a very small amount (racing conditions). On average, this
is between 5-8 degrees.
In which rev range does the car's performance increase?
You will feel the power over the entire rev range, but especially in the lower and middle rev range.
