To understand the chip tuning process, you need to know where and how the optimisation will take place. The tuning optimisation is exclusively performed in the ECU (Engine Control Unit), that means the engine itself will not be modified in any way, only the memory chip which contains the software used for the engine management is modified. The original software is simply optimised and programmed back into the memory.
